About Debra Gionet, LCSW

Debra Gionet, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, wanted to be a psychotherapist since childhood. She is passionate about providing therapy to children, teens, couples, and adults. She has more than 25 years of counseling experience. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Minor in Health Care and Social Issues, she jumped at an opportunity to live abroad in Latin America, where she learned to speak Spanish and taught English at noteworthy private & public language schools.

Debra earned a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW# 21514) with the California Board of Behavioral Science in November 2003. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin’s School of Social Work in 1998 with an MSSW and a specialized area of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Issues. Since then, she has provided psychotherapy for adults, teens, and children for more than 25 years.  She has been married for over 17 years, is a mom, and loves traveling, experimenting in the kitchen with family legacy recipes, and being in the outdoors. She brings her breadth of 25 years of experience in counseling to each therapy session.

Debra is proud of her affiliation in professional organizations, including the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Focus on the Family, New Life Ministries, and is affiliated with the Christian Counseling Collective of San Jose.
